COMMON ELIGIBILITY TEST

Common Eligibility Test (CET) for Government Jobs:

On 19th August 2020, Government of India took a revolutionary decision to reduce the burden of exam from the head of candidates by setting up a National Recruitment Agency which aims to do away with multiple entrance examinations with a single online “Common Eligibility Test’ or CET.  Finance Minister, Nirmala Seetharaman had proposed setting up a National Recruitment Agency in the budget speech of 2020-21. The Central Government sanctioned Rupees 1517.57 Crore for setting up the National Recruitment Agency. The agency will conduct a common entrance test for Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) and Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). CET will be held twice in a year. CET will be conducted for three levels i.e. for the graduate, higher secondary (12th pass) and the matriculate (10th pass) candidates for various non-technical posts.

The aim of CET is to eliminate multiple tests and save precious time as well as resources. It not only will reduce multiple tests but also will give advantage in terms of exam centre and language. The NRA will set up examination centres in every district of the country to help youth, especially womens from rural and remote areas of the country, as they won't be required to travel to another place to take recruitment tests, the Union Cabinet aims to establish a total 1000 examination centres. It  will also give relaxation to candidates in terms of language. The exam will be conducted in 12 languages which are in the 8th schedule of the Constitution of India and later will include other languages also.

There will be no limit on the number of attempts for taking this examination, but the upper age limit will be there. However, the relaxation in the upper age limit shall be given to candidates of SC/ST/OBC and other categories as per the policy of the Government. The Ministry of Personnel confirmed that the CET's score  card will be shared with the recruiting agencies of Central and State Government's, Union Territories, Administrations, Public Sectors and with Private Sectors. The score will be valid for next three years from the date of declaration of result. Common Eligibility Test (CET) will prove very helpful and less costly for the youth, especially for the poor and middle-class people.
