5th November 2023: World Tsunami Awareness Day - Every year on November 5, World Tsunami Awareness Day is observed with the goal of increasing public awareness and assisting in tsunami preparation. Although tsunamis are rare, being prepared in case one occurs can be beneficial because they can be extremely dangerous at times.
6th November 2023: International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict - This day is observed on November 6 each year to raise awareness of the importance of not using natural resources for military purposes. Another name for it is the World Day to Protect the Environment in War.
7th November 2023: National Cancer Awareness Day - Every year on November 7th, India observes National Cancer Awareness Day to raise awareness about potentially fatal diseases. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan declared the day in September 2014. It is the birthday of Nobel laureate Marie Curie, whose research on radioactivity contributed to the discovery of cancer treatment.
12th November 2023: World Pneumonia Day - World Pneumonia Day, observed on November 12th each year, aims to raise public awareness of pneumonia and the available prevention and treatment options. Many countries observe the day, and millions of people participate in the fight against pneumonia each year.
17th November 2023: National Epilepsy Day - Epilepsy, a chronic brain illness, causes recurrent seizures caused by abrupt, excessive electrical discharges in neurons. Every year on November 17, India celebrates National Epilepsy Day to raise awareness of the condition and its treatment.
19th November 2023: International Men's Day - International Men's Day is observed worldwide on November 19th to recognise and celebrate men's accomplishments and contributions to society. 25th November 2023: International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women - The United Nations designates November 25 as International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women in order to raise public awareness of abuse against women, which includes rape, domestic violence, and other forms. Karwa Chauth (1st November 2023): Karwa Chauth is also known as Karak Chaturthi. Karwa or Karak refers to the clay vessel used to make water offerings to the moon, known as Argha.
Karwa Chauth is a Hindu celebration observed mostly by married women in India. On this day, wives keep fast from sunrise to moonrise in order to pray for their husbands' long life and well-being. It's a day filled with love, devotion, and cultural rituals.
Deepawali (12th November 2023): Deepawali, commonly known as Diwali, is a joyful and spiritually significant event observed by millions of Indians throughout the world. It represents the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, with families decorating their homes with lights and candles, sharing gifts, and feasting. It is a time for reflection, gratefulness, and establishing relationships with family and friends.
Bhai Dooj (15th November 2023): Bhai Dooj, also known as Bhai Phota in some parts of India, is a beloved Hindu festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. It comes on the second day of Deepawali and on this day sisters place a ceremonial tilak on their brothers' foreheads, and then offer prayers for their well-being and prosperity.
This celebration represents the unbreakable love and protection that siblings offer for one another. Bhau Beej, Bhatra Dwitiya, Bhai Dwitiya, Bhaiya Dooj, Bhau Beej, and Bhaathru Dwithiya are some more names for Bhaiya Dooj.
Chhath Pooja (19th November 2023): Chhath Puja is a significant Hindu festival observed in India, mainly in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh. It is dedicated to the Sun God (Surya) and the Goddess of Usha (dawn), Chhathi Maiya.
This ancient celebration features hard practices like fasting, holy baths in rivers, and the offering of prayers to obtain blessings for well-being and wealth. Chhath Puja is celebrated to express gratitude to the Sun for sustaining life on Earth.
Pushkar Fair (20th to 27th November 2023): The Pushkar Fair, also known as the Pushkar Mela, is a colourful and spiritual gathering in Rajasthan, India. It combines spirituality and culture, drawing pilgrims, traders, and visitors from all over the world.
