UNESCO:United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization

UNESCO headquartered in Paris, France is the member of the United Nations Development Group has five program areas: Education, Natural Sciences, Social and Human Sciences, Cultural and Communication and Information. At  present, the Director-General of UNESCO is Audrey Azoulay. The 74 year old organisation was formed on 4th November, 1945 has 193 states as its members and 11 associations. Its aim is to promote a culture of peace and to establish an “intellectual and moral solidarity of mankind” and to fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals. It sponsors projects related to literacy, technical training, education, the advancement of science, promoting independent media and freedom of the press, preserving regional and cultural history and promoting cultural diversity. 

UNESCO assists in translating and disseminating world literature , establishing international cooperation agreements to secure “World Heritage Sites” of cultural and natural importance, preserving human rights , and bridging the worldwide digital divide. It has many designating projects and places of cultural and scientific such as, World Heritage sites,World digital Library etc.
