World Nature Conservation Day 2021

World Nature Conservation Day:

World Nature Conservation Day is celebrated on 28th July annually worldwide. The aim behind this celebration is to spread awareness to protect nature and its resources. Being a human it’s our responsibility to save the nature cause whatever sources we are taking from the mother earth are limited. We should use natural resources very carefully and try to save nature. Continuous illegal activities in wildlife areas and deforestation are among some very serious issues which are causing damage to nature and also making it difficult to conserve nature. Due to this many countries are putting this cause on their priority list and also has started to take some necessary steps to conserve nature.

Conservation of Nature means:

According to Gifford Pinchot - “Conservation means the wise use of the earth and its resources for the lasting goods of mankind.”

“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed” – Mahatma Gandhi

The Natural Resources includes plants, soil, water, air, mineral and wildlife. If we won’t conserve these natural resources then our future generations will suffer badly.

Importance of Nature Conservation:

It is not possible for a human to pass a single day without using any natural resources. We can’t live without natural resources. But the world population has been increased a lot which is the main reason behind the excess use of natural resources like Natural Resources includes plants, soil, water, air, a mineral so it’s our duty to keep nature cleans and safe. Mother earth has given us all the natural resources, we can help to conserve nature by using things like –

  • To help in supporting ecological balance
  • By preserving the biodiversity
  • Preserve for future generations.

If we want to save or conserve nature then we have to eliminate or limit the threats like deforestation, illegal activities in wildlife, excessive use of plastic, various kind of pollution, chemicals, construction & industrial development etc. If we are able to limit or eliminate these factors, then we can restore a healthy environment for us as well as for future generations.

Here are some threats to Nature:

Pollution: The increasing number of industrial activities and construction work have caused serious pollution threats to the world.

Damage to the Natural Habitats and Biodiversity: Increasing natural calamities like earthquakes, floods, Tsunami, Volcanic Eruptions etc and Man-made actions are causing damage to the natural habitats of the wildlife animals and plants & trees are losing their natural habitats. Every threat to nature is also causing damage to biodiversity. If we continuously damage biodiversity, we will ultimately lose nature and reduce the chances of survival over the years.

Steps to Conserve the Natural Resources and Nature:

The most important step towards conserving nature is to educate people about how our activities impacting nature. All Schools, colleges and educational institutions should add this to their curriculum.
