Bank Holidays January 2024: Banks will Remain Closed on Following Days This Month

 

Bank Holidays in January 2024 in India: Due to the celebration of festivals in January 2024, banks will experience several holidays. If you have any urgent tasks to complete regarding the bank in such a case, complete it right away.

Banks will be closed on all national holidays and some regional holidays depending on the state, per guidelines from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The state administration determines regional holidays. There will be a total of more than 8 days off work in the January month as per the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) schedule of holidays.

All commercial and public sector banks in various states will be closed in India for 8 or more days in January 2024 as per the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) holiday schedule –

 

1 January 2024: Monday – New Year's Day – Banks will be closed in Aizawl, Chennai, Gangtok, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata, and Shillong.

2 January 2024: Tuesday – New Year Celebration – Banks will be closed in Aizawl (Mizoram)

7 January 2024: Sunday – Across India

11 January 2024: Thursday – Missionary Day – Banks will be closed in Aizawl (Mizoram)

12 January 2024: Friday – Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda – Banks will be closed in Kolkata (West Bengal)

13 January 2024: Saturday – Lohri and Second Saturday (Across India)

14 January 2024: Sunday – Makara Sankranti (Across India)

15 January 2024: Monday – Pongal/Uttarayana Punyakala/Makara Sankranti Festival/Maghe Sankranti/ Magh Bihu – Banks will be closed in Bengaluru (Karnataka), Bhubaneswar (Orissa), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Gangtok (Sikkim), Guwahati (Assam), Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.

16 January 2024: Tuesday – Thiruvalluvar Day – Banks will be closed in Chennai (Tamil Nadu)

17 January 2024: Wednesday – Guru Govind Singh Jayanti/ Uzhavar Thirunal – Banks will be closed Chandigarh (Punjab) and Chennai (Tamil Nadu) respectively.

22 January 2024: Monday – Imoinu Iratpa – Banks will be closed in Imphal (Manipur)

23 January 2024: Tuesday – Birth Anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose/ Gaan-Ngai – Banks will be closed in Kolkata (West Bengal) and Agartala (Tripura) & Imphal (Manipur) respectively.

25 January 2024: Thursday – Thai Poosam/ Birhtday of Md. Hazrat Ali – Banks will be closed in Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and Kanpur & Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) respectively.

26 January 2024: Friday – Republic Day (Across India)

27 January 2024: Saturday – Fourth Saturday (Across India)

28 January 2024: Sunday – Sunday (Across India)

 

Bank holiday schedule may differ between different states, except for the observance of Second/Fourth Saturdays and Sundays holidays.

 

Note: Although banks are closed, consumers may still perform a variety of tasks online. Digital services like UPI, mobile banking, and internet banking are unaffected by bank vacations. In this case, holidays will not have any impact on your job if it can be completed online.
