Match 36 of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 took place in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, and Delhi Capitals (DC) took the victory with a win over Rajasthan Royals (RR). RR lost both of their wickets in the first two overs, with 155 runs needed to win. While Avesh Khan dismissed Liam Livingstone, Anrich Nortje got Yashasvi Jaiswal. As Ashwin stumped David Miller, DC came up with their third wicket against RR. As a result, Sanju Samson and Mahipal Lomror added 31 runs together to survive courtesy of a successful DRS. DC struck two times in two overs as Kagiso Rabada and Axar Patel respectively dismissed Lomror and Riyan Parag. DC bowlers kept the game tight throughout the innings, striking frequently, and preventing RR from building momentum with the bat - helping the team to a comfortable win by 33 runs. In their bowling matches, DC and RR made one and two changes, respectively, to their plays XIs from the previous encounter. Following an excellent start from Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw, RR struck very quickly, with Tyagi and Chetan Sakariya dismissing them quickly.

Captain Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer joined forces after DC's reconstruction were in need of a fresh start. After ten overs, DC was 66/2. The pair kept the scoreboard ticking. In the next over, Iyer and Pant combined for a 50-run partnership. Mustafizur Rahman and Rahul Tewatia struck back for RR, however. After Sanju Samson worked his magic behind the stumps to dismiss Iyer for 43, Mustafizur dismissed Pant for 13, who chopped one back to the stumps. Hetmyer then smashed 28 off eighteen deliveries to help DC pass 120 in just eight deliveries. As Mustafizur dismissed Hetmyer in the 17th over, DC reached its final total of 154/6.
