6 Self-Defense Moves for Woman

Self-defense is an action that protects from another person. The use of the right of self-defense as a legal justification for the use of force in times of danger is available in many jurisdictions.

Walking home alone and feeling uneasy? Getting a weird vibe from a stranger on the bus? Women face many times these words. 

In a January 2019 survey of 1,000 women nationwide, 81 percent reported experiencing some form of sexual harassment, assault, or both in their lifetime. Verbal harassment was the most common form, but 51 percent of women said that they were touched in an unwelcome way, while 27 percent of women survived sexual assault.

here are 6 self-defense tips for women to protect themselves.

1. Hammer Strike:-

Using your car keys is an easy way to defend yourself.  if you feel unsafe while walking at night, you have to use keys to stick out from one side of your fist for hammer strikes.

To perform:
  1. You should Hold your keyring in a tight fist, like holding a hammer, the keys extending from the side of your hand
  2. and then ground and fall.

2. Groin kick:-

If someone is coming from in front of you, you should use a groin kick to paralyze your attacker. 

To perform:

  1. First, you stable yourself.
  2. Lift your one leg above the ground and then begin to drive your knee upward.
  3. and then raise up your one leg, drive your hips forward,  and kick the attacker.

 

3.Heel palm strike:-

This move can cause damage to the nose or throat.

To perform:

  1. 1st relax your hand
  2. You have to decide whether you want to hit the attacker's nose or eyes or chin and then heel the palm to the attacker.
  3. after that attacker will slide backward.

 

4.Elbow Strike:

The elbow strike is widely used in various martial arts for example - Krav Maga, Muay Thai, and Karate. There are various elbow strikes for attacking from the side, the rear, the front, under, and above. There are various types of Elbow Strikes such as Horizontal Elbow Strike, Reverse Elbow Strike, Vertical Elbow Strike, Spinning Back Elbow Strike, Jumping Down Elbow Strike, 

To perform: 

1. Horizontal Elbow Strike: Performed same as a Hook Punch. During twisting on your torso, pivot on your right foot like you are killing a bug then use the forearm side of your elbow for the impact point.

2. Reverse Elbow Strike: Performed similarly as Horizontal Elbow Strike but in the opposite direction.  Use the tricep side of your elbow as the striking point.

3. Vertical Elbow Strike: This punch is performed as Upper-Cut in boxing. Shift your weight from rear to front and then bring the elbow up towards the target's head. Use the forearm side of the elbow for the impact. 

 

5.Escape from a ‘bear hug attack’:

To perform: 

1. Lower yourself towards the ground and at the same time spread the legs as per convenience. This will provide a better balance.

2. Thrust your elbow up to release some pressure of bear hug. 

3. Grab one of the hand of Attacker with opposite hand.

4. Drag the attacker onto the back and then throw him out. 

 

6. Escape from a side headlock:

If somebody has you in a headlock, you are in a VERY dangerous situation, and you may need to damage the person’s body in order to escape and protect your own body.

To perform:

1. Rotate your body, use your shoulder and place your arm in front of their body

2. Place your leg behind both of their legs

3. Fall backward and trip them over your leg

4. Push off the ground and run (or fight)
